Two different methods
A constant-percentage strategy applies the chosen percentage to each year's opening portfolio, so its future dollar withdrawals require future portfolio values. The table instead illustrates the separate historical convention of increasing the initial dollar withdrawal with inflation. Chapterwise does not use the labels interchangeably.
Limitations
This educational calculator does not assume investment returns or calculate future portfolio balances. It excludes tax, account sequencing, CPP, OAS, a partner, lifestyle phases, market uncertainty and estate goals. A 4% input is a benchmark, not a recommendation or promise.
